Courtney Love is a singer/musician who is most known for her part in the band "Hole" and her marriage to Kurt Cobain. She was born July 9th, 1964 as Courtney Michelle Harrison in San Francisco. Love's parents divorced shortly after her birth. Courtney's mother, Linda Carroll, was given full custody because Carroll claimed that Love's father Hank Harrison had given the child LSD.

The mother and daughter eventually lived in hippie communes throughout Oregon. When Love's mother remarried and moved to New Zealand, Love was sent to a boarding school there. After traveling through the UK and US as a teenager, Love eventually went back to Oregon to attend Portland State University. She didn't graduate and instead began working as an exotic dancer. It was then that she picked up the stage name Courtney Love.

During this time in the 1980s, Love married James Moreland from the band "The Leaving Trains" though the marriage dissolved quickly. In 1987, Love left Portland for Las Angeles and began to pursue a music career. She had several moderately successful stints as a singer for "Faith No More", "Sugar Baby Doll", and "Babes in Toyland". Love's dominant personality caused her to get kicked out of many bands she played with.

In 1989, Love taught herself to play the guitar and decided to start her own band. The group "Hole" was formed and their first album was released in 1991. During this time, in 1990, Courtney Love met Kurt Cobain and they eventually became a couple, though Cobain resisted at first. They eventually married on February 24th, 1992. In August of that same year, the couple's daughter was born, Frances Bean Cobain. Kurt Cobain killed himself in 1994 and media attention focused on Courtney Love and wild rumors spread about her responsibility for his death. Love continued to gain attention in the press for her wild antics, arrests and drug problems.
